After their Russia collusion hoax imploded, the Times needed a new angle of attack. They decided the best way to undermine Donald Trump going forward was to gin up racial tensions in the country. the Evil Ideology of the Left That Just Won’t Die
In Greek mythology, the Sirens were diabolical creatures who lured nearby sailors to their deaths with their enchanting music and singing. Likewise, socialism is the diabolical political ideology that lures young people in with false promises of solidarity, security, and free stuff. After the fall of the Soviet Union, it seemed the threat of socialism would disappear for at least one generation. No such luck. I was part of the last generation that was taught to cower under our desks in case of nuclear war. After Ronald Reagan gave the Evil Empire the coup de grace it so richly deserved, the West let down their guard and assumed the scourge was vanquished forever, relegated to the ash heap of history where it belonged. But the rise of Bernie Sanders and AOC in the Democratic party have proven socialism once again sells with the younger generation. But why? Why do we have to keep fighting the same battle over and over again? Isn’t a century of failures and 100 million corpses enough to settle the debate once and for all?
Back in the day, Bernie Sanders is exactly the kind of guy you would expect to be a socialist. A crusty old crank, enamored with radical theories and flowery ideals, who has never worked at a real job or produced a thing of value in his whole life. So how does a crazy looking old white guy spouting failed 19th century political philosophies become a hero to young people and the face of a major political party?

The best explanation I can come up with is ignorance. The hard left has totally dominated academia for at least a generation. These Ivory Tower imbeciles have a vested interest in distorting and obfuscating the history of socialism. Students are taught that socialism is just about being nice and taking care of each other. That it means sharing the wealth and living as one big happy family. But they never learn the actual history of socialism, the gory details of it’s implementation, and it’s perfect track record of failure. Most are clueless about Stalin’s Holodomor, Mao’s Great Leap Forward, and the killing fields of Cambodia. The image of Che Guevara makes for a cool T-shirt, even if you are oblivious to the terror the real-world man inflicted. A generation of teaching kids to be activists and spout opinions before learning basic facts and critical thinking skills has led to a population easy to lead by the nose.

Besides not understanding socialism, many young people don’t even understand wealth. They seem to think of it is something America just has. Or even worse, as something the government can create and give to it’s citizens. The US GDP is a big pie that just magically appears, and the only question is how to divide it up most fairly.

Of course, material wealth is not a static thing. America is a very wealthy county for one, and only one, reason. We create a lot of it. It has nothing to do with slavery, or colonialism, or exploiting the working class, or any of the other nefarious reasons the left uses to explain American prosperity. We have a lot of wealth because we produce a lot of wealth. Period. Free market capitalism has made the United States the wealthiest country the planet has ever seen. And while we produce a lot of material wealth, we also consume a lot. The designer clothes, fancy vehicles, electronic gadgets, gourmet restaurant meals, air conditioning, big screen TVs, min-mansions, etc., etc., are all part of the wealth in America. Wealth that is continually produced and consumed. And if we stop producing wealth, we will very quickly have much less of it. If you don’t have at least a basic understanding of wealth and where it comes from, it is hard to maintain.
The media is another institution in America that just can’t shake it’s love affair with socialism. The New York Times made a particularly cringe-worthy attempt to revive socialism. Their risible Red Century series claimed that socialism was a boon for feminism, environmentalism, and even better sex lives. Apparently the Old Gray Lady is still Red when you scratch the surface, even a century after Walter Durante was white-washing the Soviet Union. Their asinine 1619 Project teaches young Americans to hate their own country. To see it as a system of oppression and racial supremacy, instead of the beacon of freedom it truly is. They use the critical theory of Marcuse as a cudgel to break down faith in liberty and free enterprise, because they know it is the only way their dream of an all-powerful central government run by technocrats can ever come to be.

Through education and the media, the American left has done in a generation what the communists couldn’t do in a century. They have turned our youth against the system that has generated the most powerful and prosperous country in the history of the planet, while granting it’s citizens unprecedented individual liberty. How else can one hope to explain Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lamenting she has never known American prosperity because she had to eat Ramen noodles in college? The truth is AOC, and young people like her, have never known anything but prosperity. The US economy is so robust, citizen’s tend to take it for granted. Prosperity is considered a given to them, and the only question is how to best distribute the wealth.

So what is so bad about socialism anyways? Why worry if young people are enamored by it? For starters, it flat out doesn’t work. From the Soviet Union, to Cuba, to Vietnam, to Korea, to Venezuela, socialism always results in poverty and tyranny. Point this out, and the apologists will protest those countries weren’t really socialist. True socialism hasn’t been tried, they insist. They are of course right, and there is a good reason for that. “True” socialism, as they define it, can’t exist in the real world. It is completely incompatible with human nature. All people are to a greater or lesser extent, selfish. Selfish with their time, their money, and their material possessions. People will bust their butts at 2nd jobs to put their own children through college. Precious few would do the same for some unknown stranger. They will work 70 hour weeks to get their small business off the ground they have dreamed of owning for years. They will generally do the bare minimum to advance some nebulous benefit like “the greater good.” Work your ass off in the United States, and there is no limit to what you can achieve. Americans can rise as high as their talent and ambition will take them. Work your ass off in a socialist country, and all you get out of it is a life of hardship and an early grave. Because socialism doesn’t reward hard work and achievement, it invariably leads to shortages of material goods. The things that somebody has to work to produce and actually make life better for all of us.

As someone who has worked in the corporate world, I can assure you the last thing a company wants to do is screw over it’s loyal customers. Know who doesn’t mind screwing you over? The government. Because you’ve got nowhere else to go. And if you do try to opt out, they can compel you to participate with their plans by force. Don’t believe me? Try not paying your taxes and see what happens. Last time I checked, Ford can’t send armed agents to my house if I refuse to buy an F150.

But what if the scarcity problem could be overcome? Socialism would still be inherently evil. Socialism makes the Citizen a slave to the State. The one defining principle of the US founding was the liberty of the individual citizen. The Founders made the divine right of the individual to pursue happiness as he sees fit the central principle behind the US Constitution. And that liberty is the very source of American Exceptionalism. But individual liberty is incompatible with socialism. Socialism is based on the idea of the State determining what is best for the “greater good”, and the citizens (subjects) dutifully complying. Individual choice takes a back seat to the the collective needs as determined by government technocrats.

The Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture posted a chart describing characteristics of “Whiteness.” The chart has since been removed, but the site is still dripping with Critical Race Theory nonsense. If you thought that a museum would be focused on preserving history and not pushing Marxist social theories, you would be sadly mistaken.
They key thing to understand about this chart is that it isn’t some fringe theory or obscure reference. This is boilerplate Critical Race Theory, which the far left has fully embraced and the Democratic Party is currently adopting. This is a definition of “whiteness” any SJW could easily recognize and agree to. And according to Critical Race Theory, “whiteness” is the embodiment of systemic racism that allegedly perpetuates white supremacy. When the left talks about dismantling “systemic racism”, these are the kinds of traditions and values they are really talking about stamping out. Even if the suburban high-school kids protesting in their BLM shirts don’t realize it.

This story out of Walled Lake Western high school is literally unbelievable. A popular AP history teacher and baseball coach has allegedly been terminated for an offensive post on Twitter. Here is the offending post.
I though this had to be a joke. Surely nobody gets fired for stating an incontrovertible fact and expressing tepid support for the sitting US President, right? How could such an innocuous statement be grounds for firing? Well, the response to this Tweet in the comments was nothing short of astounding. Mr. Kucera was accused of: intentionally instilling fear in black and immigrant students; supporting racism, sexism, and homophobia; enabling sexual predators; and failing to see the similarities between the United States and 1930’s Germany, among many other lurid things. The hatred directed at any person willing to publicly support Donald Trump was palpable. I was going to highlight some of the more unhinged examples, but I’m not sure which are high school students and which are adults.
Cancel culture has to be the absolute worst development of the social media age. Online mobs have found they can ruin the lives of random strangers for the most trivial slights. And they can do it without even having to get off the couch. Some do it to intimidate their political rivals into silence. Some do it to virtue signal. And some seem to do it just for kicks. A group of liberals, most likely sensing the beast they helped create was out of control and ready to turn on them, recently signed an open letter denouncing cancel culture. Alas, that Genie is already out of the bottle. I hope this insanity comes to an end, but I see no reason to be optimistic it will stop any time soon.

After the George Floyd killing, liberals have fully bought in to the fiction that America is a deeply racist county where young black men are regularly hunted and killed by the police. After their Russia Collusion Hoax imploded, the New York Times decided to go all in on the racism narrative. So it comes as no surprise they are gleefully pushing this new “woke” view of race relations. Their 1619 Project is an attempt to rewrite American history through the lens of Critical Race Theory. The Times recently highlighted a Minneapolis neighborhood, Powderhorn Park, that has vowed to stop using the police as an example of how all decent people should now be thinking. The article explores how residents are struggling with their “wokeness” now that a pack of homeless people have established a tent camp in their collective backyard. Almost every sentence is a howler.
But times have changed. After the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police, Ms. Albers, who is white, and many of her progressive neighbors have vowed to avoid calling law enforcement into their community. Doing so, they believed, would add to the pain that black residents of Minneapolis were feeling and could put them in danger.
The first thing you notice while reading the article is how obsessively fixated on race the author is. Nobody’s opinion or perspective matters without the context of race to color it. The author makes sure the race of every person cited or discussed is clearly made known so you know how to feel about them. Critical Race Theory and the left have taken the dream of Dr. King and one of the fundamental American values and turned it on it’s head. According to the SJWs, now it is racist not to factor skin tone into how we see each other.
The multiracial group of roughly 300 new residents seems to grow larger and more entrenched every day. They do laundry, listen to music and strategize about how to find permanent housing.
So, basically, the homeless mob is trashing a neighborhood they don’t give two craps about while being loud and obnoxious. The story fails to mention the sanitation and hygiene situation. That part is left up to the imagination. Oh, and they also “strategize.”
Their presence has drawn heavy car traffic into the neighborhood, some from drug dealers. At least two residents have overdosed in the encampment and had to be taken away in ambulances.

The video of Mr. Floyd’s death and the outcry over racial injustice that came after has awakened many white Americans to a reality that people of color have known their whole lives: The scores of police killings they have seen in the news in recent years were not one-off incidents, but part of a systemic problem of the dehumanization of black people by the police.
This is the big lie foisted to justify this nonsense. Numerous studies have failed to identify a racial bias in police shootings. But BLM is willing to burn down buildings, so apparently that means they must automatically be taken seriously. So instead of calling the cops, the Powderhorn Park residents think of ways to one-up their neighbors in coddling the squatters. Being woke isn’t always easy though…
“I’m not being judgmental,” said Carrie Nightshade, 44, who explained that she no longer felt comfortable letting her children, 12 and 9, play in the park by themselves. “It’s not personal. It’s just not safe.”
You can almost feel the anguish.
Angelina Roslik burst into tears, explaining that she had spent the past four years fleeing unstable housing conditions and was struggling more than she cared to admit with the chaos the camp had brought into the neighborhood. Linnea Borden said she had stopped walking her dog through the park because she was tired of being catcalled.

The women agreed to let any property damage, including to their own homes, go ignored and to request a block party permit from the city to limit car traffic. Rather than turn to law enforcement if they saw anyone in physical danger, they resolved to call the American Indian Movement
So your home and property get trashed. And maybe your neighborhood is no longer safe. It’s a small price to pay for the smug satisfaction that “wokeness” provides, right?
The impulse many white Powderhorn Park residents have to seek help from community groups rather than from the police is being felt in neighborhoods across the country.
Is it really? Are neighborhoods all across the country seriously considering replacing their police with community groups? Seems like the NYT is desperate to make this a thing, and not just a handful of hard left loons making a ridiculous gesture to prove how “woke” they are.
Ms. Miller came to see her decision to buy a home in the neighborhood as potentially preventing a person of color from doing so. And while Ms. Albers used to feel only pride about the work she put in to revitalizing the community, now, she sees her work as gentrification that may have pushed out nonwhite residents.
Seems that these white women are feeling guilty about their very existence. Because the act of merely taking up space on the planet might be causing inconvenience to some hypothetical person of color. And apparently thinking that fixing a neighborhood up and eliminating crime would tend to drive out nonwhite people is not at all racist when you are Woke.
She worries that a lot of what has been written about the camp on community message boards has been influenced by racial profiling. To the extent that illegal activity is going on in the park, Ms. Miller does not blame the tent residents. “My feeling around it is those are symptoms of systemic oppression,” she said. “And that’s not on them.”
That is some professional grade virtue signaling. Her neighborhood is being destroyed by criminals, and her only worry is they might be getting a bad rap on social media. Woke! Surely nobody could top that?
Mitchell Erickson’s fingers began dialing 911 last week before he had a chance to even consider alternatives, when two black teenagers who looked to be 15, at most, cornered him outside his home a block away from the park. One of the boys pointed a gun at Mr. Erickson’s chest, demanding his car keys…
“I regret calling the police. It was my instinct but I wish it hadn’t been. I put those boys in danger of death by calling the cops.”
This guy takes virtue signaling to Twilight Zone levels. After being car-jacked at gun point, his main regret is calling the police because a carjacker might have gotten hurt. Dude deserves SJW Sainthood. Too bad Critical Race Theory still condemns him as hopelessly racist.
Postscript on the Inevitable Consequences
Well, that didn’t take long. A child was sexually assaulted in the homeless encampment on Thursday. But it seems the Powderhorn Park gang is sticking by their lunacy for the time being. The child was taken to the hospital, but nobody ever called the police. Apparently, sacrificing your children to predators is a small price to pay for not being branded as racist to this crowd.
The Seattle CHAZ/CHOP looks set to come to an inglorious end. Promoted as an example of how communal living could replace the evils of capitalism and lead to a more just society, the CHAZ never quite lived up to it’s billing. Apparently, rebuilding civilization from the ground up is a little more difficult than these dipshits were lead to believe by their college professors.
The garden is certainly one of the more hilarious examples of how cutting edge the CHAZ was. The creators of the CHAZ garden must have gone to the Michael Bloomberg school of farming because it was brilliant. They dumped some (most likely stolen) top soil on top of a plot of grass, inserted some potted plants, and voila, food autonomy! Sadly, the CHAZ garden of Eden was destroyed by some homeless dude before it could feed the masses.
The “summer of love” was turning out to be a Utopian dream of peace and unity with the villainous Seattle PD finally vanquished. And where there wasn’t total harmony, the statesmen of the CHAZ were finding more civilized and sophisticated methods of resolving their differences.

However, the “block party” the mayor was gushing over only days before seems to have lost some of it’s luster after a spate of violence including beatings, sexual assaults, and a handful of shootings. Somehow, despite responsibly ensuring the CHAZ security force was adequately armed with AR-15 rifles, there was an unfortunate fatality in the zone.

Gotta admit that blaming the police for the ensuing chaos was a level of chutzpah even I didn’t expect. Apparently SPD, which the CHAZ wants to abolish and pelted with bricks, was suddenly responsible for the autonomous zone again… even though armed men were preventing them from securing the crime scene.

No longer wanting to remain autonomous and selfishly deprive the country of their monumental talent, the Free Capitol Hill brain trust is offering to rejoin American society. So Antifa and BLM are now ruling conquered territory in the United States. The Capial Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) is several blocks abandoned by Seattle PD and now under the control of #DefundThePolice radicals. These visionary dreamers have already created a Utopian society based on peace and justice, complete with it’s own warlord! With nothing left to loot, it will be hilarious to see how quickly these imbeciles start to starve while wallowing in their own filth.
Of course, the legitimate government actually elected by the citizens couldn’t look more inept, feckless, and impotent. Uber-progressive Seattle has been cultivating this Frankenstein’s monster for years. Now that it has escaped, state and local authorities are clueless about how to restore law and order without resorting to icky force. Meanwhile, the invaders are digging in their positions. And Donald Trump couldn’t ask for better campaign fodder.
Protests continue across the country following the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. Calls for justice are deeply justified for the brutal way Derek Chauvin killed Mr. Floyd by kneeling on his neck for 9 long minutes, despite Floyd pleading for help because he couldn’t breathe. Chauvin and 3 other Minneapolis officers involved were fired immediately. Chauvin was offically charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter a few days later. An investigation into the actions of the other officers is still ongoing.
But what started as peaceful protesting of a gross injustice quickly devolved into ugly rioting, vandalism, arson, looting, and random violence. It didn’t have to be this way. The irony is, virtually everyone was on the side of the protesters at the very start. Justice for Derek Chavin was already coming. The peaceful protests, which every person of conscience could easily get behind, were an opportunity to really put pressure on the people and institutions that allowed an animal like Chavin to remain on the force in the first place. To get the kind of reforms that will prevent these kinds of tragedies in the future. Instead, the violence and mayhem has people retreating back into their respective tribes. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Far from trying to stop the rioting, many big city Mayors seem to be implicitly encouraging them. Telling their police forces to stand down. Announcing publicly they won’t defend private property from looting and vandalism. The excuses and rationalizations for this gross dereliction of duty, spewed like clockwork from both the authorities and the media, are pathetic and laughable.
Legitimate protesters don’t need to be “given space” to operate. Criminals do. It’s unclear how letting criminals vandalize, loot, and burn a community will make things better. Stealing a big screen TV doesn’t deliver justice. Burning a building won’t affect change. And if beating random victims makes you feel better, than you are scum.
While rioting, looting, and beating innocent bystanders to bloody pulps certainly is a way to get the people’s attention, it will not be in a good way. The gut reaction of decent people will be revulsion, regardless of the merits of your cause. And examples of riots leading to positive change are pretty much non-existent, while examples of riots leading to broken communities suffering for decades from the aftermath abound.
Another common refrain is that it’s just property, and thus no big deal. Of course, it is a very big deal to the people who are losing everything and watching their life’s work go up in flames. I find it hard to imagine the people who have to live in these burnt out shells of a city are happy about the decision to let “protesters” blow off steam in this way. I doubt the celebrities bailing out the rioters would be as enthusiastic if it was their town being destroyed and their lives being upended. And of course it’s not just property. Horrible acts of violence have occurred against innocent victims of the mob. Scores of people have been bloodied, maimed, crippled, and killed. For what?
One thing that is new about these riots is how organized they are. Far from spontaneous eruptions, many of the riots appear to be premeditated crimes. In city after city, the people being arrested for causing trouble are outsiders. Anarchists and anti-social radicals are pouring into the urban areas to get in on the “fun.” Antifa is definitely one of the groups that has taken advantage of the situation, brazenly coordinating their attacks on social media. Even more crazy are the neatly stacked pallets of bricks strategically placed for the rioters to terrorize with. Who is delivering these pallets of bricks? Why does nobody stop them? What kind of sick bastard would facilitate the pain and loss of fellow citizens? Something really dark is at play here.
If anyone should be upset about the looting, rioting, arson, and beatings, it is the people genuinely protesting for positive change. Their message of outrage and moral clarity is being diluted, abused, and ultimately destroyed by the rioters, looters, and opportunistic radicals. The actions of the violent few once again ensures that nothing positive will come out of this. The cycle will continue.
