A Conspiracy Theory I Just Can’t Buy

So, there is a conspiracy theory going around on rightwing blogs that says the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago was really about getting back documents that implicated the Deep State in wrongdoing over the Russia-gate scandal. The theory posits that some of the documents Trump had in his possession could definitively prove the federal law enforcement and intelligence apparatus was guilty of crimes related to the Russia collusion hoax. And they were so desperate to get these documents back, they risked the politically dangerous move of raiding Trump’s home.

This might have sounded somewhat plausible to me a few years ago. After the 2016 election, I strongly suspected the original Russia-gate hoax was a cover-up for Deep State crimes. My theory went like this: Hillary was cruising along with a comfortable lead in virtually every poll and was totally confident she was going to easily win the Presidency. But Hillary is a nasty bitch with a long history in DC and a closet that is chock full of ugly skeletons. Her only fear from the former reality-TV star was some sort of October surprise (like the pussy tape they sprung on Trump) that could torpedo her impending coronation. To insure her victory, team Clinton would need to get out in front of any baggage that surfaced right before the election. But how to know what that might be? Spying on the Trump campaign was the obvious answer. But Clinton’s campaign couldn’t spy directly without risking serious consequences if they ever got caught. But they could have the FBI “surveille” the Trump campaign under the ruse that The Donald was suspected of colluding with a foreign power. Then, with a little help from one or two key trusted Obama officials, team Clinton could get the inside scoop on what the Trump campaign was up to. Then, the unthinkable happened and Donald Trump actually won. The Clinton campaign and their Deep State allies were terrified their criminal spying activities would be exposed by the newly-staffed Trump DOJ. So they decided that the best defense was a good offense, doubled down on the (ridiculous) Russia-collusion hoax and launched the Mueller investigation to neuter Jeff Sessions and keep the Trump people on their heels. That made sense to me at the time. That explained the insanity and stupidity (Real estate mogul and billionaire Donald Trump is a Russian asset? Really?) of what I was seeing in a believable way.

However, I think my original theory is blown out of the water now. It depends on the Deep State goons actually being fearful of exposure. These pricks never feared being exposed. It is now crystal clear that these fuckers don’t have any fear whatsoever of being held accountable. The way they have flaunted their lawlessness is a dead giveaway. They have nothing to fear and they know it. They can falsify a FISA warrant and nothing will happen. They can raid the lawyer of a target and nothing will happen. They can leak information and spread false rumors and nothing will happen. They can even raid a former President’s home with a bullshit warrant and nothing will happen.

So now we are to believe the Deep State is suddenly terrified of being exposed over Russia-gate??? These dirty bastards have already been exposed a thousand times over. And they don’t care. Because nothing ever happens. But this time is different? Puh-leeze.

Supreme Court Makes Landmark Ruling

The Supreme Court just handed down a ruling that has the potential to reshape the very future of the country. I’m not talking about SCOTUS overturning Roe vs. Wade. Nor am I talking about the Court shooting down New York’s concealed carry restrictions. Both of those are major rulings with huge implications. But they pale in comparison to the ruling that dropped yesterday on the EPA and CO2 regulations.

Basically, the Court ruled that federal regulatory agencies can’t implement sweeping changes in policy by their own volition. Major policy changes must originate in laws passed by the Congress, from which the agencies derive their authority. This is a monumental win for self-government and the rule of law. And a major set-back for the globalist left and the ever-expanding administrative state.

The left loves the Deep State… the vast army of career bureaucrats who occupy positions of (regulatory and administrative) power and are completely unaccountable to voters. Progressives believe that this legion or technocrats, or “experts”, should be able to set policy based on “the science” and their elite judgement about what is best for the common good. In contrast to letting the people decide for themselves through their elected representatives.

As I’ve noted before, progressives HATE the US Constitution despite paying lip service to it when it suits their ends. The Constitution was designed to limit the power of the Federal government while maximizing the liberty of the States, and the people, to the greatest extent possible. One of the primary means progressives have used to get around Constitutional limits is by creating a pseudo 4th branch of government in the administrative state. A branch they alone shape. A branch untouchable by voters or even opposition Executive administrations. It is hard to overstate the importance of the SCOTUS ruling against the EPA. It is a dagger thrust at the heart of the technocratic administrative apparatus and the progressive deep state. It strips technocratic “experts” of the power to shape policy, and returns it to the Congress where it belongs.

Obviously, the progressive left is totally freaking out.

The subject matter of the regulation here makes the Court’s intervention all the more troubling. Whatever else this Court may know about, it does not have a clue about how to address climate change. And let’s say the obvious: The stakes here are high. Yet the Court today prevents congressionally authorized agency action to curb power plants’ carbon dioxide emissions. The Court appoints itself—instead of Congress or the expert agency—the decisionmaker on climate policy. I cannot think of many things more frightening.

– Justice Elena Kagan in dissent

Kagan’s hysterical dissent is total non-sense. The Court did not appoint itself the decision maker on climate policy. They didn’t say what the policy should be, or limit what it could entail. The only thing the Court said is that the EPA could not wipe out an entire industry and reshape the American energy sector by fiat. The Court simply said such radical policy changes must originate in laws passed by the Congress.

Progressives hate this answer. They know their Green New Deal, and much of the rest of their agenda, is not popular with the American people. Building enough support to pass laws enacting them would be extraordinarily difficult. They would rather ram them down the peoples’ throats via unelected bureaucrats, while avoiding taking responsibility at the ballot box. Some decisions are just too important to be left to the rabble, they would argue.

This is a very good day for liberty in America. Seeing the continued downward slide of the country and it’s culture can be frustrating and depressing. Enjoy the victories when you can get them.

Like the Mob, The Deep State Protects It’s Own

Government sucks at almost everything. Except protecting it’s own. Kevin Clinesmith, the FBI agent who fabricated evidence to justify the Obama Administration’s illegal spying on Carter Page, gets off with barely a slap on the wrist. A $100 fine isn’t a penalty, it is a slap in the face to anybody who wanted to see justice done.

If there was any doubt left, the message just sent makes it crystal clear. The Deep State can do whatever the hell it wants to the American people and their elected representatives. And nobody will ever be held responsible. The Deep State is telling us: We can run half-ass e-mail servers out of our basements to avoid oversight. We can cook up half-baked excuses to spy on political campaigns we don’t like. We can sabotage Presidential Administrations we don’t like from within. We can lie to the Commander in Chief about troop levels to keep wars going we like. We can run deliberately unsecure elections. And then tell you to your face they were the most secure ever. You want evidence? We just told you so. That’s your evidence.

We. Rule. You.

That is the message the Deep State is rubbing in our faces. They make the rules. And we live by them. Don’t like it? Too bad and STFU.

Americans won’t stand for it. The people have a breaking point.
